CMS Water Heater Program

The water heater program is for all CMS consumers, home or business. The program is used by CMS to improve the load factor of our system.  The higher load factor that is reached with the installation of energy efficient electric water heaters helps the overall efficiency of our electrical system.

Rebates for Electric Water Heaters:

  1. Payment of $150.00 to member who install a standard electric water heater
  2. Payment of $200.00 to members who install an approved lifetime electric water heater
 Rebates shall be limited to one water heater per location.  However, multiple rebates to a consumer for approved multiple electric water heater installations, at the consumer’s premises, shall be available.  If a water heater rebate was paid on the unit being replaced, a second rebate can be paid only if the warranty has expired.

CMS Electric Heat Program

As with the water heater program, the electric heat program is open to all our consumers, home or business.  This program is also used to increase the load factor of our system, and promote installation of more efficient heating and cooling systems.

Rebates for Electric Heat Systems:

  1. Payment of $100.00 per electric system for a qualifying electric heating system
  2. Payment of $400.00 per unit for an air source heat pump
  3. Payment of $100.00 per very ½ ton for a geothermal heat pump (minimum unit size of 1½ tons)

Low Income Energy Assistance program (LIEAP)

The LIEAP program provides annual assistances for the heating and cooling of your home. To qualify applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. The gross income (before deductions) of all persons living at the applicant's address may not exceed the limits below.

2. Applicant households must be personally responsible for purchasing home heating fuel in one of the following ways:

Applications for LIEAP will be accepted January 16, 2001 through the final business day of March 2001.
